LA SPIRITERIE FRANÇAISE ESTATE
A remarkable site, an architectural gem from the 16th and 17th centuries. 28-hectares of grounds with flowerbeds, a lake and a distillery boasting ancestral know-how…in a timeless setting!
Listed as a historical monument, Château du Breuil is a typical example of the architecture found in the Auge region. It has been owned by a succession of prominent families including the Bouquetots, the Montgomerys (1611-1658), the young Tancredes of Rohan (1630-1658) and the Bences (1696-1734).
The Château has been entirely restored and is currently being well cared for by its present owners. While the central portion dates from the 17th century, the two half-timbered and tiled towers were built back in the 16th century with the oak beams and the typical pink tiles of Normandy.
Our Château and its towers, gate, old moat and Orangery reflect the estate’s history-steeped past.
Our estate covers more than 28 hectares. It includes many areas in which to relax and admire the several hundred year old trees.
The property is ideal for walking around and exploring in any season. It features a lake, teeming with all kinds of fish.
Over the course of its 400-year history, Château du Breuil has become a world-renowned brand, a true quality hallmark for its Calvados AOC Pays d’Auge.
A passion for the crafting of spirits has enabled the estate to prepare for the future with energy and enthusiasm and to extend its expertise to include Rum and Whisky. These ‘Made in France’ and ‘Made in Normandy’ spirits benefit from the estate’s ancestral know-how in the crafting of Calvados.
Château du Breuil possesses a natural and carefully mastered “from the earth to the senses” methodology allowing it to craft spirits of the utmost purity and precision, the result of an attentive and meticulous production process that enriches the original properties and character of each spirit.
