Description

THE ESTATE

Domaine de la Pouyade’s 25 hectares of vineyards are located in Juillac-le-Coq in the heart of the “Grande Champagne” region, also known as the “golden triangle”. The sunny exposure of the vineyards on the upper slopes is ideal for the production of wine destined for distillation. Ugni Blanc is the Domaine’s main grape variety and provides all the qualities necessary for distillation as its wine is fine and delicate and possesses a high acidity, low tannin and an alcohol content of between 9% and 11%. It is distilled on the lees in the traditional Charentaise double-distillation still.

OLD PINEAU DES CHARENTES

Produced from very old Ugni Blanc vines growing on high-lying limestone slopes, this Old Pineau Blanc has been aged for many years in old Cognac barrels.

Drinking recommend-ations

It can be enjoyed chilled as an aperitif, but also paired with foie gras or Auvergne cheeses such as a mature Cantal. It makes a nice match for apple or pear Tarte Tatin, summer fruit crumbles (apricots, peaches, nectarines) or custard-filled cakes. It can also be used in cuisine, adding great flavour to tuna, rabbit or veal.

Palate

Smooth and fat on the palate, it reveals honeyed flavours with lightly roasted almonds and dried fruit and nuts.

A rich, clean nose with aromas of nuts and a rancio character.
