Domaine de la Pouyade’s 25 hectares of vineyards are located in Juillac-le-Coq in the heart of the “Grande Champagne” region, also known as the “golden triangle”. The sunny exposure of the vineyards on the upper slopes is ideal for the production of wine destined for distillation. Ugni Blanc is the Domaine’s main grape variety and provides all the qualities necessary for distillation as its wine is fine and delicate and possesses a high acidity, low tannin and an alcohol content of between 9% and 11%. It is distilled on the lees in the traditional Charentaise double-distillation still.
With its powerful notes, derived from a longer ageing in new barrels, this Cognac would pair perfectly with a cigar.
If you don’t smoke cigars, don’t worry – this Cognac is also perfect with some fine, dark chocolate.
This Cognac boasts a complex palate of prunes, candied orange, cinnamon and dark chocolate and a long finish of liquorice, spices and roasted coffee.
A velvety honeyed nose and a pronounced vanilla character would best describe this superb Cognac.
